ABOUT THE OWNER

David’s musical journey began at the age of five, when he first picked up a violin and instantly connected with its voice. His enthusiasm quickly grew into a lifelong passion, and by 1978 he had achieved AMEB Grade 8. He still performs today, playing with orchestras and string ensembles throughout Sydney. During his teens, David’s musical world expanded further as he taught himself piano, guitar, and drums, eventually joining several bands on the Sydney pub circuit. He recorded multiple singles and played hundreds of gigs across the city.

David’s professional career in music began in 1980 at a Sydney music store, where his dedication and knowledge soon saw him become the musical instruments manager for the Palings company. He later moved into the wholesale sector, joining one of Australia’s largest importers and gaining deep experience in the national music industry. In the mid-1980s he relocated to New Zealand, where he established and ran a highly successful musical instrument company for a decade.

Upon returning to Australia, David opened a major retail music store that served musicians for nearly 20 years. In 2014 he launched AXIOM MUSIC, driven by a desire to make well-crafted, affordable instruments accessible to players across the country. Today, that mission continues to guide everything he does.
